Chloe Beggie - League Secretary

Chloe Beggie League Secretary

I have been playing Centre for Dunstable Diamonds Netball Club for 10 years - I was forced into the position purely on the basis of being the youngest member of squad and presumably the fittest at the time of setting up the team! Having played and preferred WA in younger years I have grown to love playing Centre, playing anywhere else on court nowadays just doesn't give me as much freedom to run around!

My day job involves working for one of the worlds best known sporting organisations, The Football Association at Wembley Stadium. I am a PA to the Football Regulation & Administration Director and secretary to a number of Boards. I joined the Luton & Dunstable Netball League Committee Season 2016/17 as I feel as though I can contribute my wealth of knowledge learnt in governing a different sport and hope to transpire this across to our sport and to help run our league.

Taking up the position as League Secretary I hope my minute taking skills are up to scratch!

Maddy Harwood - Umpiring Secretary

Maddy Harwood Umpiring Secretary

Since the age of 6 I have lived, breathed, played, umpired and coached netball across 2 continents. Having started playing in the UK County leagues at the age of 12 for Surrey I  went on to play, umpire and coached Action Super League netball in South Africa where I live for most of my 20s and early 30s. I’ve sat on various league committees, advisory boards and played for a whopping amount of teams at various levels of the game. As my playing career is now in its ending stages as I near 40, (I am still playing for 2 clubs in 2 different leagues and my knees are feeling years of  netball abuse), I am enjoying a more social level of the competitive community leagues. My passion is now focused on giving back what I have learnt in my travels with our worldwide netball family, all the skills and passion everyone put into my long netball career and bringing it back to developing the community game. Getting women back into sport is something I hold dear and I am so proud to now be part of the LDNL set up. I hope that we can work together to make a difference as we come out of COVID and get women fit and healthy and having fun.

I am very lucky to have my dream job working to give back to the most vulnerable within our communities in Bedfordshire. As a HR Manager for the YMCA Bedfordshire I spend my days empowering and supporting staff who give their lives to the betterment of our local communities and to help those whose lives have spun into chaos and neglect. I find a lot of joy and learn so much from the people I meet They often have very little to give materially but so much light exists in some dark worlds -  I’m truly humbled to be able to call this my job as it doesn’t feel like a job.

I don’t have a lot of spare time out of netball and work but I love keeping fit at my bootcamp and circuit training sessions other than that I can be found growing healthy food on our allotment and more importantly cooking and eating that food.
